June '07 - Ben Harwood reports on his experiences at the recent Hove UKWA event.   Rik, I've just come back from the event in Hove and I'm pleased to report I came joint first. The first day started off with light winds, so i was on my 5.7 and Freestyle 91, then the wind picked up and they were biasing the judging on waves and jumps. So i put my FSW 78 on the 5.7 Expression and done quite well in the cross-on wind and shore dump conditions, even managed a nice backside air in one of my heats! I made the final all three rounds getting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Lexy got a 1st, 2nd and didn't make the final in one round, but because they allowed one discard this meant Lexy and I tied for first. The second day was on and off, they eventually decided to send us out in the light winds, to get a result, although after making us rig up and get into wet suits they decided not to hold anything! Shame as the lighter winds would have given me a golden opportunity to clinch outright 1st place. Cheers, Ben Well done to Ben and thanks for sending over the report and pictures...Rik x
